Greater Perspective

The following sites, while not exhaustive, give one the opportunity to gain greater perspective.  All of these sites offer alternative ideas, evolutionary thoughts, contrasting opinions and sometimes frustrating articles.  For the knowledge that brought us here today may be lacking to the voyage of tomorrow.

Modern War Institute

The Modern War Institute at West Point generates new knowledge for the profession of arms, enhances the West Point curriculum, and provides the Army and the Nation with an intellectual resource for solving military problems. MWI has three mutually supporting functions: ResearchEducate, and Integrate.

War on the rocks

War on the Rocks is a platform for analysis, commentary, debate and multimedia content on foreign policy and national security issues through a realist lens. It features articles and podcasts produced by an array of writers with deep experience in these matters: top notch scholars who study war, those who have served or worked in war zones, and more than a few who have done it all.

Divergent opinions

In 1,000 words or less, Divergent Options provides unbiased, dispassionate, candid articles that assess a national security situation, present multiple options to address the situation, and articulate the risk and gain of each option.

from the green notebook

I’m passionate about leader development and want to help others to lead with the best version of themselves. I created this site to provide a platform for leaders to help each other by sharing lessons learned. Lessons that come from our own green notebooks.

This blog represents only my personal views and those of my guest authors. I do not plan on using this space as a platform to complain or provide satirical observations. I want to use this medium to add my thoughts to an already existing expert body of knowledge.

The military writers guild

The Military Writers Guild exists to gather writers committed to the development of the profession of arms through the exchange of ideas in the written medium.

Through its members, The Guild will encourage an open dialogue from diverse perspectives, thereby supporting the study of military affairs, spread knowledge of the military profession, and increase the assistance available to those writing in the national security space.

The Guild will help foster a strong peer ecosystem focused on writing about military affairs through our ability to, “Advocate, Collaborate, and Promote.”

The military leader

The Military Leader is designed to provide leaders of all professions with resources and insight they can use to develop themselves and their organizations. Visitors are welcome to share experiences and insight to add value to The Military Leader community.

US Army War College War Room

Built on the principle that open competition improves the quality of ideas, War Room features innovative and provocative articles and podcasts that explore significant challenges in national security and defense. War Room is the online journal of the United States Army War College, created through the gracious support of the U.S. Army War College Foundation. War Room is not just for the Army community. It seeks a broad audience of well-informed readers and listeners interested in national security and defense.

The Field Grade Leader

This page is for anyone, civilian or military, who is interested in improving themselves as an organizational leader. In the Army, we earn our reputation leading small units in challenging situations.

The purpose of this page is to create a dialogue amongst leaders in the Profession of Arms. This forum serves as a repository of key thoughts for leaders transitioning to key and developmental positions as Majors as well as a place for more senior officers to provide insight based on experience.
